WESTFIELD: Marcia Anne Potter, 65, (1956 – 2022) passed away on March 31, 2022, at her home in Westfield, MA. She was born on November 4, 1956, (along with her twin, Marilyn Jeanne Potter) in St. Johnsbury, VT.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James Potter and Joan E. Potter of Westfield, and by her sister Marilyn (who died in 2020). She is survived by her older brother, Kenneth Potter and his wife Claudette, who lives in San Diego, CA, a nephew, Aaron Potter, a niece Elizabeth Potter, a grandnephew Jackson Potter and special friends, Marie and Mark Bourdeau.
Marcia grew up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and graduated from Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT, with a major in recreation therapy. She worked for the Recreation Dept. of St. Albans, VT for several years before moving to Massachusetts where she worked for many years with disabled adults for the state, until her retirement last year. Traveling, camping, and caring for others were constants throughout Marcia’s life. She lived with her twin sister for most of their lives, and, in fact, was Marilyn’s caregiver in later years due to Marilyn’s debilitating illness. They traveled widely going to numerous MLB ballparks and to Red Sox spring training games. They also enjoyed Road Scholar trips. And they both shared a life-long love of camping, which evolved finally into spending much of their summers at their camper in Becket, MA.
