WESTFIELD – Margaret Elizabeth “Peg” Thomson was born on August 4, 1919 in Middlebury, VT and passed away August 10, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar & E. Pruda Wiley, brother Willson and husband David Thomson. She came from a long line of distinguished New Englanders, including her father who was the Dean at Middlebury College and her great-uncle who was the Governor of Vermont. She dedicated her life to her love of music. She was a graduate of Middlebury High School and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She taught music in West Springfield public schools for 25 years. She and her husband, Dave, ran a summer camp for budding musicians for 15 years. After retiring, she was the head of many musical groups including the Pioneer Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines, the Golden Blue Ribbon Singers, the Polly Murphy Singers and the West Springfield Senior Center Chorus. She is survived by her son David (Susan) Thomson, daughter Jane, grandchildren Shana (David) Wellons, Eric (Annie) Thomson, and one great-grandchild, Jacob Wellons. Burial will be private.
