CHESTER – Marie L. Morrissey, 89, (1928-2017) of Chester, MA passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Wingate at West Springfield. Marie was born on November 16, 1928 in Chester, MA to the late Robert and Jennie (Jacobson) Morrissey. Marie retired from Westfield State University after a long career as an administrative assistant. In addition to her full time job, Marie served the town of Chester in many capacities including the Board of Selectman for the town of Chester for 17 years, much of her tenure as Chairperson, serving as President of the Chester Foundation, working with the Chester Historical Society and countless other activities. Her life is one of service to all people and a love and commitment to family. Her biggest joy was in just being with family and friends. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Patrick and Lynn Morrissey of St. Petersburg, FL, Mike and Donna Morrissey of Montgomery, MA, Sue and Mark Bodurtha of Montgomery, MA, Linda and Lee Roberts of Chester, MA, Bob and Deb Broga of Chester, MA, Kathy Broga of Chelmsford, MA, Andy and Brian Beneway of Russell, MA and Pam Reardon of Westfield, MA. Marie is predeceased by her sister, Shirley (Broga) Morrissey and her brother William Morrissey. Visiting hours for Marie will be held on Saturday from 3-5 PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield. Burial will be at the convenience of her family.
