Marion Snyder

Snyder, Marion obit photo 2WESTFIELD: Marion Ethel (Tebo) Snyder, 82, daughter of the late Edward J. and Ethel Brown Tebo, died on October 31, 2014 at East Village Place, East Longmeadow, MA. Her husband, Vernon E. Snyder, passed away in 1999. She leaves two children, Amy Beth Snyder of Nahant, MA, and Paul V. (Robert Payne) of Minneapolis, MN. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold C. Tebo, and her three sisters, Helen L. Boisseau, Eleanor A. Dupuis, and Dorothy E. Hill. Marion graduated from Westfield State College and did graduate work there as well. She taught public school, 3 years in Northampton and 31 years in Westfield at Fort Meadow School and Southampton Road School. She was a member of the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Retired State County and Municipal Employees Association, and a life member of the National Education Association .Marion was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Westfield, where she had served on the Christian Education Board, taught Sunday School, and served as a Deaconess. Marion was named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and also had numerous poems published. She sponsored the We the People of the U.S. Constitution project for the Westfield Schools. In 1987, her class exhibited the Westfield quilt they made, winning three blue ribbons. It was later on display at the Eastern States Exposition. In 1991, the historical map her class made won 1st place in the First Congressional District competition and 1st place in the statewide competition as well. A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church, 18 Broad St, Westfield, on Wednesday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to the following organizations: Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant Street,Watertown, MA 02472 or to American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St – 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701. firtionadams.com
