WESTFIELD – With a heavy heart, we announce that Mark Lee Godaire, 62, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Holyoke, MA on October 29, 1960 to Robert and Phyllis (Young) Godaire. He was a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School and served in the United States Navy from July 25, 1979 to July 25, 1983. Mark was married to his beloved wife, Rachael J. (Chasse) Godaire, for 25 years. He obtained a certificate in Medical Assisting from Holyoke Community College in 2003. Over the years, Mark worked as an HVAC technician, apartment and hotel maintenance, and a medical assistant. He had a passion for golfing, bowling, and singing. Mark was a member of the American Legion and served on the Board of Trustees at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westfield, MA where he also sang in the church choir.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert W. Godaire.
Mark is survived by his wife Rachael J. (Chasse) Godaire, his children Scott A. Godaire, Jennifer N. Godaire, his mother Phyllis D. (Young) Godaire, his siblings Linda Parenteau (Richard Parenteau), Marsha Kingsley, Diane Salva (Edmund Salva), nieces and nephews Melissa Parenteau, Christopher Godaire, Peter Kingsley, Justin Salva, and many cherished friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 4 pm-7 pm at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085. Following the service, his burial with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001. Reception will immediately follow at Crestview Country Club, 281 Shoemaker Lane, Agawam, MA 01001. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mark’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
