ARLINGTON, VA – Mary Ann Sullivan, formerly of Westfield, passed away June 23, 2013 from cancer at the Halquist Memorial Center in Arlington, VA. She was the daughter of the late Paul F. Sullivan and Alice (Maher) Sullivan Lucia.
She was educated at St. Mary’s High School, Westfield State University and obtained her master’s degree from Georgetown University. Mary’s career went from working for the Library of Congress to Arlington VA Central Library where she worked as training coordinator, editor and ran workshops for coworkers.
She leaves behind her step father, Joseph Lucia of West Springfield; three brothers, Michael of Southampton, James of Easthampton and Paul of Ocean City, NJ and her uncle, William Sullivan of E. Longmeadow as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends in MA. She is also warmly remembered by her coworkers including Diane Gates and Melinda Scarano. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Sullivan Bourgoin and her brother, Daniel Sullivan.
Her funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter and St. Casimir Church, 24 State Street, Westfield with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield.
