CHATHAM, MA: Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Theroux, 89, (March 1, 1926-March 1,2015) passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 on her 89th birthday. Born in Springfield on March 1, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Francis C. and Sarah (Floyd) Parker of Springfield. Mary graduated from Manchester High School and worked at D. H. Brigham, Milton Bradley and retired from the United States Postal Service. Mary and her late husband Harold W. Theroux were descendants of residents of the former town of Enfield, Massachusetts which was taken to make the Quabbin Reservoir. Mary and Harold shared many hobbies such as traveling, archery and genealogy as well as hosting two foreign exchanges students in their home. Mary was skilled at crochet and knitting, making dozens of afghan blankets in her spare time. One of her most cherished accomplishments, as a result of her tireless research, was becoming a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century. She especially enjoyed her family, friends and conversation. She is survived by her two sons Paul Theroux and his wife Jean of Stratford, Connecticut, Gene Theroux and wife Marianne of Southwick, her two daughters Nancy Theroux and Susan Theroux both of Chatham, her two sisters Marion Berard of West Hartford, Connecticut and Margaret Lupher of Jeannette, Pennsylvania. She also leaves seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by he rbrother Francis C. Parker Jr. formerly of Torrance, California. Mary’s Calling hours will be Saturday, March 7th from 2-5:00 PM at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Rd., Chatham. Funeral will be on Monday, March 9that 10AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Rd., Southwick followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield.
