Sandwich, MA – Mary Ellen (Hastings) Witham, 66, born in Hartford, CT, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017. She was born May 21, 1950, the daughter of the late, the late Robert and Marian Hastings. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Somers High School, attended UConn, and was a beloved teacher assistant within several school districts around Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She worked especially well with autistic youngsters. Mary made friends easily and would always lend a helping hand. She was trustworthy and loyal to those around her. Mary is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Witham; her son, David Witham and his new wife, Amy; her daughter, Heather Witham; her grandsons, Thomas and Justin Brochu; her sister, Bette Ann Connelly, and her brother, Paul Hastings.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 10 am to 11 am at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers, CT 06071. A short service at will follow the visitation at 11 am. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be given to the Cancer Center at Cape Cod Hospital.
