WESTFIELD – Mary H. Russell (1933-2024) passed away peacefully February 16th, 2024 at Holyoke Medical Center.
She was born in Westfield to the late Stanley F. and Helen C. (Tumidajewicz) Malinowski. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Gardening was her passion. After retiring from Old Colony Envelope Company, she owned and operated Mary’s Greenhouse raising and selling flowers and vegetables at local farmers markets. She had a green thumb and nurtured anything she touched. Her words of wisdom: “Remember to Water.”
Gardening would be enough for most people but not for her. She was like the Energizer Bunny. With her husband Robert, she also owned and operated a food trailer at the Hadley Flea Market and game trailer (Balloon Dart Game) at area fairs. People would come from far and wide to enjoy her delicious and generous portions of French fries and corn dogs. Her balloon dart game was a sought-after attraction for the little ones; “Everyone Would Win a Prize.”
“Cha Cha” Mary made the best spaghetti for her nieces and nephews. Her golumpki and pierogi were to die for.
She is survived by her children Debbra Baldiga, Janis Sypek, Frank Sypek, Jr., and Joseph Sypek; her grandchildren Christopher (Madison) Baldiga, Katherine Baldiga, Alexis Olson, Tina (Chad) Uhlman, and Joseph Sypek, Jr.; great-grandson Cliff Baldiga and nieces and nephews.
