WESTFIELD – Mary Jane (Henchey) Strong, 93, of Westfield died Sunday in a local nursing home. She was born in Westfield on November 26,1919 daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Parrott) Henchey.Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, and a member of the Westfield Women’s Club. Mary was employed for thirty-five years at Western Mass. Hospital, retiring in 1982.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years; Albert, a son; Richard and his wife Patricia of Westfield; her sister-in-law, Patricia Henchey; two grandchildren, Michelle Melo, and Nicole Orsucci, and three great-grandchildren, Anthony and Gabriella Melo and Austin Orsucci. Mary was predeceased by her brother, Donald Henchey.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 9:00 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church,127 Holyoke Road, Westfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
