WESTFIELD – Mary T. Phelon (1949-2018) of Westfield, MA passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on November 15th, 2018. Mary was a beloved member of her family and she enriched the lives of so many, especially her 18 nieces & nephews as well as her 14 great-nieces and nephews – teaching them songs, crafts, baking and showing them the joy of volunteerism and generosity. She was involved in 4-H for her entire life, first as a member and then as an extension agent and volunteer. Her passions included the Hampden County 4-H and Westfield Fairs, Special Olympics and the embryology program. She received numerous awards for her contributions to both 4-H and Special Olympics. She was an animal lover who never refused a stray, from ducks to sheep. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Margaret (Sheehan) Phelon and Leonard Phelon, her stepmother Vera (Klimchak) Phelon, Brother Jim Phelon and nephew Tim Phelon. In addition to her nieces and nephews, she will be deeply missed by her sisters Ann Sgrignari and Paula Bartley, her brothers Lenny Phelon, Jack Phelon, Bill Phelon (wife Sue), Eugene Bartley (wife Susie) and her sister-in-law Sheila Phelon.
Services will be held at Firtion Adams with calling hours Monday from 4-7PM and funeral Mass Tuesday morning at 10AM at St. Peter & St. Casimir Parish, State St., Westfield followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd., Westfield.
