Gezotis a leader at Worcester State

Worcester State’s Nick Gezotis, of Westfield led by example in more ways than one this past college baseball season.
Gezotis finished the season, batting .333 with 38 hits, six doubles, and a triple, while he also walked 10 times, and was 6-for-8 on the basepaths. He scored 16 runs, 16 RBIs as the team’s lead-off hitter and only made six miscues in 132 fielding chances at second base.
The lead-off hitter was third on the team in on base percentage and fourth in hitting, battling early season injuries to play in nearly every contest (39 games, 35 games played).
“Nick was a leader for our young team as we started two sophomores, and four freshmen this past season,” Worcester State baseball coach Dirk Baker said. “We counted on hi to be our lead-off hitter, to get on base, and he was productive out of that spot for us this past season.”
The team (15-24) finished in fifth place in the MASCAC standings with a record of 6-8 and missed qualifying for the conference tournament for the first time since 2007.
Gezotis helped the squad last season reach the MASCAC Tournament semifinals and the ECAC Division III New England Baseball Tournament with a .293 average, 25 runs and 29 RBIs. – Information and photos courtesy of Worcester State Sports Information Department.
