WESTFIELD – Merle P. (Payton) Trask, 83, of Westfield died Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Noble Hospital. She was born in Natchez, Mississippi on November 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Rabon and Lola (Mitchell) Payton and has lived in Westfield since 1952.
Merle was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Dunn and Bradstreet of Springfield and the former Drug Shop and Towne Pharmacy of Westfield, for many years. Merle loved her garden and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Richard “Dick” Trask; a son, Stephen of Baja, Mexico; two daughters, Melissa Fouche and her husband Michael of Westfield and Janet Martinelli and her partner, Tammy of Holyoke; a son-in-law, Arthur Morrison of Chicopee; a brother, James Payton and his wife Rosemarie of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters, June Chalmers of Natchez, MS, and Sandra Jean Lofton of Montery, LA. Merle also leaves four grandchildren, Derek Martinelli of Holyoke, Tara Morrison of Los Angeles, CA, Kevin Morrison of Chicopee, Kathleen Morrison of Amherst; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Louisiana and Mississippi. She was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Morrison in 2007.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield at 1:00 p.m. There are no calling hours.
