Michael J. Conroy

WESTFIELD – Michael J. Conroy passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 10th, 2024. Born in Westfield on May 13th, 1957. He was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Conroy. Graduate of Westfield High School, he entered the Navy in 1975 and traveled the world. He proudly served for four years on USS Plymouth Rock LSD 29. Michael worked for the City of Springfield in the Department of Facilities Management for twenty years before his retirement in 2022. He was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament in Westfield. He was a member of the American Legion in Westfield. He was an active member of the Sons of Erin in Westfield, serving on the Board of Directors, and a past President. He was most recently the recipient of the 2024 Billy Buzzee “Pat on the Back award.” He was the long-time float builder for the Sons of Erin.

No time is ever enough, but this loss truly came too soon. Michael was the best man we’ll ever know. He was a devoted father and proud grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Caitlin Conroy and her partner Shane Maynard and his beloved grandson Seamus, whom he adored. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Gail Britton. He leaves his two sisters Margaret (George) Bitzas of Agawam, Mary Christine (Joseph) Dupelle of Feeding Hills, his two brothers of Westfield; Patrick (Sheila) Conroy and Joseph (Patricia) Conroy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian burial to be celebrated at Our Lady Blessed Sacrament, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield, on Tuesday, June 18th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
