Supergroup Adrenaline Mob kicked off their tour at Toad’s Place in New Haven on Tuesday, March 12. The band consists of Symphony X singer Russell Allen, Sonic Stomp guitarist Mike Orlando, Disturbed bassist John Moyer and drum god Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold fame.
The band took the stage to the Goodfellas theme song, Woke Up This Morning and promptly ripped into Psychosane off their debut release, Omerta. The band then proceeded to play four more songs from Omerta including, Feelin’ Me, Down to the Floor, Angel Sky and Indifferent. A-Mob has recently released an EP covering some of their favorite songs and Artists including the next song they played High Wire from late eighties supergroup Badlands. Three more songs off Omerta were played including their first single released and Duran Duran cover song, Come Undone. The band finished the set with the lead track off Omerta called Undaunted before taking a quick break. Mike Orlando came out and did a vicious guitar solo that had quite a few in the audience keeping pace on their own air guitar. Two great cover tunes ended the night including Dio’s Stand up and Shout and Black Sabbath’s The Mob Rules.
Great band, great set list, great Rawk show… should be hearing a lot more from this band in the future. Without a doubt a very professional band whose members have “been there and done that”. This band is worth checking out.
RAWK MUSINGS
Check out the newly opened (October 2012) Palace Theater in Stafford Springs, CT. I was able to go see Enter The Haggis play there on Friday, March 15. The band actually played close to two hours consisting of two sets and included a number of tracks off their soon to be released, The Modest Revolution. Although the release date is March 30, there were copies for sale at the merchandise booth.
Back to the Palace Theater… The theater is located in downtown Stafford Springs and has been revitalized after being closed for many years. The current owner is booking some great shows including Jeff Pitchell, James Montgomery, metal band Hypocrisy and eighties band The English Beat. Great sight lines from anywhere in the place including a very cool area upstairs in the balcony that has some couches and coffee tables. The owner mentioned they are trying to get a wide variety of musical acts and performances including vaudeville type acts. Check out their website at www.thestaffordpalacetheater.com for more information including upcoming shows.
NEW SHOWS
Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson are touring together, although no New England date has been announced. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Conn. or Mass. stop on this tour.

Some of the bands included in this years tour include Five Finger Death Punch, Mastodon, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Machine Head and Behemoth… just to name a few.
