SOUTHWICK – The search has ended for the missing horse in Granville. Storm, the 13-year-old horse that had been missing since Saturday night, was found around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.
An individual spotted the horse on Cross Road and closely followed the animal all the way to its home on Main Road and returned it to its owner, Tayler Rayner.
Since the horse first went missing, several residents and local officials searched throughout Granville and into Granby, Conn.. Rayner is grateful that her large-sized pet has been returned.
“It brought me to tears, I’m just happy she made it home safe and that there were no other major injuries,” said Rayner.
Storm does have a minor injury that features a gash on her back-left leg just below her knee. The injury is most likely the result of her collision with a vehicle. Rayner added that she did take the horse to a local veterinarian to get her injury treated.
On Monday, The Westfield News reported that a horse escaped from a stable on Main Road on Saturday night and had been missing since.
According to Sgt. Patrick Winslow of the Granville Police Department, officers observed a horse in the middle of Main Road at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. Rayner said that Storm got spooked by something and busted through the fence of the stable.
After going through the fence, Storm continued down Rt. 57 and was struck by a vehicle from behind near Nestrovich Orchard but got up immediately and ran into the orchard.
Prior to Storm being found early Thursday morning, the last sighting of the animal was around 5 p.m. on Sunday on Water Street.
