MONTGOMERY—Two people were dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Montgomery yesterday, according to the Hampden County District Attorney’s office.
Hampden County District Attorney (DA) spokesman Jim Leydon reported that there were two victims from a murder-suicide following a heavy police presence that occurred on Main Road in Montgomery starting yesterday morning. The DA’s office has not released additional information, including who the victims are, though Leydon said that more would be released later in the day Tuesday.
Previously, Massachusetts State Police reported in a press release that they responded to a home on Main Road after they received a call from a man “who said he had committed a crime,” though police did not specify what the potential crime was. Additional information provided to police suggested to them that the man may be armed.
Police responded to the address on Main Road in Montgomery, where the unnamed man reportedly lives.
According to State Police, several different personnel have responded to the scene, in addition to state troopers. Among the additional units are members of the Hampden County District Attorney’s office, members of State Police Tactical Operations Team, a K-9 unit and a State Police hostage negotiator.
The area was also blocked off for several hours.
As of 8:20 p.m. Monday night, Massachusetts State Police’s media relations referred media to the Hampden County DA’s office, who had taken over the incident.
