SOUTHWICK – On December 15, Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District Superintendent Jen Willard sent a letter to families of Woodland School students to inform them about a personnel decision.
John Rodgers has been serving as the interim Principal for Woodland School since October and he is set to retire at the end of December. Willard announced that Ronald Peloquin will be the new interim principal at Woodland, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Peloquin, who served 20 years as both the assistant principal and principal of Powder Mill School, will be coming out of retirement to fill the void at Woodland
In the letter from Willard it stated, “Having dedicated his life to the children and families of our District, Mr. Peloquin has described his return as ‘coming home.'”
Willard explained why the district decided to contact Peloquin and lure him out of his two and a half years of retirement.
“We wanted someone who was familiar with our district and familiar with our families, and he was a great choice,” said Willard.
Willard also announced that there will be a meet and greet at Woodland School on Wednesday Dec. 20 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. to allow parents and students the opportunity to meet Peloquin.
The initial reason for Rodgers serving as the interim principal at Woodland stems from the former principal, Amy Fouracre, who went on leave in October. Willard said in October that she wasn’t able to comment on the situation since it was a personnel matter and that still remains to be the case.
