WESTFIELD – Nicola Monteleone of Westfield passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 surrounded by his children. Born October 8, 1926 in Filadlefia, Italy, the son of Vito and Maria (Serratore) Monteleone.
When he first emigrated from Italy, Nicola worked for Adams Nursery in Westfield. He later worked for Advanced Manufacturing in Westfield, retiring in 1992. Nicola was an avid Red Sox fan, an ardent hunter and fisherman.
He leaves his wife, Vittoria (Fruci) Monteleone; a son, Vito Monteleone and his wife Cathlene of Westfield; four daughters, Maria Goralczyk and her husband Christopher of Feeding Hills, Vittoria Small and her husband Gary of West Springfield, Laura Monteleone and her husband Denny Bein of Westfield and Elisabetta Monteleone and her husband Greg Gebo of West Springfield; adored grandchildren, Gina, Jason, Johnny, Jennifer, Cassie, Stephanie, Christopher, Kelsey, Nikki, and Marie and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters in Italy.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Westfield. Calling hours will precede the service starting at 8:30 a.m. at Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street, Westfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Home of Springfield.
