Night of comedy fundraiser slated

WESTFIELD-With less than 460 days to go before the city celebrates its 350th birthday, volunteers with the Friends of the Westfield 350th Committee are gearing up for the latest fundraising event – a Comedy Night slated for March 9.
The Elks Club on Franklin Street will be the setting for an evening of laughter with entertainers Frankie Hill, Pat Oates and Rafi Gonzales.

Gonzales, a regular performer at Mohegan Sun and clubs in Boston, is a Westfield resident who is excited to bring his energetic storytelling to his hometown.  Hill is best known for his clever and sometimes dark one liners. Oates appears regularly on Springfield’s Rock 102 and was the winner of the 2015 Last Comic Standing competition at Mohegan Sun.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting promptly at 7:30. A cash bar will be available and snacks will be offered.

During the evening, a 50/50 raffle is planned as well as a general raffle.
Tickets are $15 per person or $25 for a couple. Tickets can be purchased at The Westfield News, 64 School St., or at Pilgrim Candle, 16 Union St. Tickets can also be purchased online by visiting www.westfield350.org.
Proceeds raised from this fundraiser will benefit the Westfield 350th celebration that is planned May 19, 2019.
The Friends of the Westfield 350th Committee is working in partnership with the Westfield Mayor’s Office to plan several significant events and activities to celebrate the city’s actual founding date of May 19, 1669. Harry Rock, who serves as the president of the Friends group, will discuss upcoming events during the evening. For updates and news of ongoing activities, “like” the Westfield 350 page on Facebook. Volunteers are also encouraged to get involved and can find more information at the organization’s website.
