SOUTHWICK: Paraskevi Kapsanis affectionately known as “Friday”, 82, (1938-2021) devoted wife for 47 years to the late Nikolaos Antonios Kapsanis, passed away on August 8, 2021.
Born in the village of Amades, on the island of Chios Greece on September 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Nikolaos and Virginia (Foteinou) Kouimanis. She immigrated to the United States in 1969. She had been a resident here since 2007; having previously been living in Baltimore, MD for 37 years. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield.
Mrs. Kapsanis is survived by a son and his wife, Antonios and Sophia Kapsanis of Westfield, MA; a daughter and her husband, Tiffany and Anastasios Karathanasopoulos of Southwick, MA; a sister and her husband, Maria and Steve Liadakis of Chios, Greece; six grandchildren, Leah, Manoli, Niko, Adam, Niko and Kostas; 17 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Nikolas Kalogeras; Lambros, Irene, Dimitrios, John and Louka Kouimanis.
The family wishes to thank her dear niece, Popy (Liadakis) Fotinos and nephew, Nikita Kalogeras; her dear friends, Dora Kolotos, Lambroula Mavrikos and Zenovia Fakas, who kept in touch with her and gave her moral support. To all our dear friends and family, who were there during our difficult times and gave us moral support and strength to get us through this.
Mrs. Kapsanis will lie in state from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday (August 16, 2021) in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George St., Springfield, MA 01104, followed by a church service at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, 140 West Silver St. in Westfield, MA.
