WESTFIELD – Patricia A. (James) Henchey was born January 6, 1931, in Montague, MA. She graduated from the former Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, and then studied and passed the national exam to become an accredited Record Tech. She worked in the medical record departments in several local hospitals. At the time she and her husband moved to Florida she was the director of the medical record department at Noble Hospital.
When she retired, she was employed by Forensic Medical Advisory Service of Rockville, Maryland working on a Department of Defense contract. She traveled to military bases in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina gathering medical information for a group of civilian physician specialists who were determining the quality of care in military hospitals under the contract.
Pat was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Donald J. Henchey, in 2001. After his death she left Florida to return to Westfield.
She is survived by her nephew Richard Strong and his wife Patricia of Westfield, her niece Nicole Orsucci, her husband Robert and son Austin, of Holyoke, her niece Michelle Melo, her husband Anthony and son Anthony, and daughter Gabriella of Westfield, cousin Michelle Grull of Southbury, CT, and her close friends Darlene and Ronald Brewster of Montgomery and Nancy Auger of Agawam.
Pat was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and enjoyed watching PGA tournaments on TV.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 23rd from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A Mass will follow in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Firtionadams.com
