WESTFIELD: Patricia D. (Kondelka) Puza, 83, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 26, 1937, to the late Jeremiah and Sylvia (Viscocil) Kondelka.
She was a life-long resident of Westfield. As a youth she was very active in local minstrel shows and attended Green Mountain College. On April 26, 1958 she married Leonard J. Puza. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage for over 41 years, until his passing in March of 1999. Patricia was a diligent, respectful and family-oriented person. After raising her four children, she partnered with her mother and sister on the ownership of Joan’s House of Color. Years later, she moved on and assisted her husband in managing his business, North Elm Butcher Block. After her husband’s passing, “Pat” and her son Dan assumed ownership of the business with Ron “Ziggy” Zygarowski. They relished many successful years together. Pat thoroughly enjoyed working at the store chatting with the customers; listening to their stories, sharing her own stories, giving a young child a lollipop and definitely sharing a cooking tip or two. Her customers were part of her extended family. She loved what she did, she made her family proud. Pat’s family was the centerpiece of her life. The large family gatherings and countless vacations to Maine, Cape Cod and tropical islands with family members, her children, grandchildren and friends provide memories that will be cherished and laughed about for years to come. She was also known to venture on a trip to the casinos every now and then with her mother, children and grandchildren; the laughs they had.
Pat is survived by her sister Joan Valliere of Fort Meyers, FL., her children and their spouses; Doug and Dayna Puza of Southwick, Deborah and Tim Elliott of Rocky Hill, CT, Donna and John Schnopp of Westfield and Daniel Sr. and Tara Puza of Westfield. She leaves her grandchildren Dan Jr. and his wife Nicole, Nicole and her husband Bill, Lacey, Karly, Kristina, Chelsey, Cortney, Patrick and his wife Jessica. Great-grandchildren Alexis, Kiera, Aiden, Carter and Austin. She also leaves Exadrain and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize Joan Ensign for all of her support throughout Pat’s journey….Thank You!
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of Pat’s family. Donations may be made to the Leonard J. Puza Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o CSF Westfield Dollars for Scholars, P.O. Box 382, Westfield, MA 01086.
