WESTFIELD – Paul R. Lapointe, 95, died Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 in Baystate Noble Hospital. He was born in Dracut, MA on April 27th, 1929. He was adopted at an early age and grew up in Dracut. He joined the Army at 17 and was a WW-2 and Korean War Veteran and received a Purple Heart.
Paul worked at Western Mass Hospital in the laundry department for 28 years and at the Holyoke Soldiers Home for 8 years. He worked part time as a gas station attendant and was a crossing guard at Paper Mill School for 18 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church where he worked bingo for 20 years and was on the Thursday night pitch league. Paul was also a past commander and life member of VFW post 872 in Southwick and member of the American Legion Post 454.
He leaves his wife of 67 years Joanne (Race) Lapointe, his sons Robert Lapointe of Las Vegas, Nevada and Barry Lapointe of Westfield and several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, June 21st from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A service will follow at 12 noon and burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Firtionadams.com
