WESTFIELD-Peter George Chandler, Sr., 77, of Westfield, MA passed away peacefully with loving family by his side on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Western Mass Hospital. He was born in Northampton, MA to the late Harold and Mary E. (Nelligan) Chandler. Peter was a graduate of Northampton High School. Peter is survived by his 4 children, daughter Deborah A. Cusson and Rick of Cornish, NH, daughter Susan M. Armitage and her husband, David of Westfield, MA, son Peter G. Chandler, Jr. of Atlanta, GA and daughter Barbara L. Chandler of South Hadley, MA, his brother Paul Chandler and wife Ellen of Waterford, CT, 5 grandchildren, Justina, Billy, Shane, Jesse and Dale, 4 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and he was predeceased by grandson, Gary Chandler. Peter worked for the A&P Tea Co. for 25 years and then opened “Pete’s Saws and Sharpening” in Southampton, MA. Peter lastly worked as custodian in Waterford, CT school system. Peter loved the beach, especially walks at Harkness Park Beach. Peter was a huge sports fan and loved the Red Sox, and many other hometown teams. His family would like to thank the staff from Western Mass Hospital for their loving care and support to Peter over the past two years. A Memorial Service will be held on August 29th from 11-1pm at Firtion Adams Funeral Home in Westfield MA with a celebration of his life to follow.
