WESTFIELD – Peter Mark Armstrong, 83, died Monday, November 12, 2018 in a local nursing home. He was born in Springfield on November 20, 1934 to the late Earl and Marguerite (Cain) Armstrong. He has lived in Westfield and Springfield and was a U.S.A.F Veteran. He was a 1952 graduate of Westfield High School. He attended Wilbraham Academy for 1 year. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Vermont. Peter taught Spanish for a short time at Westfield High School and on Nantucket. He worked at the U.S. Post Office in Springfield for many years. He was a former member of the Springfield Y.M.C.A. He enjoyed golfing, winter trips to Puerto Rico and going to Boston Red Sox games. Peter leaves his brother Christopher J. Armstrong and his wife Elizabeth of Byfield, MA., his nephews Benjamin C. Armstrong and his wife Anne of Newbury, MA, Aaron Armstrong and his wife Jane of Hillsborough, CA, his nieces Lucy Armstrong Henkes and her husband Thilo of Georgetown, MA and Lee Armstrong of Oakland, CA. He also leaves his sister-in-law Linda Armstrong of Truro and was predeceased by his brother Samuel J. Armstrong.
The funeral for Peter will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 12 noon at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Firtionadams.com.
