Westfield – Philip S. Masciadrelli, 75, (1941-2017) passed away on February 27th from a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Westfield to the late Livio and Christine Masciadrelli. Phil was a WHS Class of 1959 graduate. He joined the Army immediately after high school and served in the Vietnam War, stationed in Okinawa, Japan with the 61st Artillery unit. After the war, Philip returned home and began working at The Old Colony Envelope company. He eventually moved on to manage the New England Concrete Pipe company as the Plant Manager, and later worked at Jen-Coat in Westfield until retirement. Phil was the type of guy who just couldn’t sit around, so he found a part-time job with Legend Lawn Care, where he worked until this past fall. His passion for NASCAR racing prompted him to buy an RV, so that he and his wife and grandkids could go to the races for long weekends. If the Bruins were playing a game, you could always count on the TV in his den to be on (and loud). His love of hockey was evident as he could be found at many games to watch his grandchildren play. At one time, Phil dabbled in painting, and his work is proudly displayed at the Masciadrelli Gallery (a.k.a. Phil’s den at home). Phil was very proud of his kids and his 9 grandchildren.
Philip leaves his wife of 46 years, Laura (Jette). He also leaves behind his 4 children; 3 sons and their spouses: Jeffrey & Flora, Steven & Christi, and Michael & Erika, and his daughter Jennifer McMahon and her husband Tim. He is survived by his older brother Donald Masciadrelli, Sr. He was pre-deceased by his brother Robert Masciadrelli. He will be missed by his grandchildren: Nick, Kate, Joey, Matthew, Sarah, Allie, Sienna, Sean, and Emma. He also leaves nieces and nephews, and many friends. Not forgotten, are Phil’s pets, which he adored, Max & Duncan and E.J. & Isabella.
Calling hours for Philip will be on Sunday, March 5th from 2-5pm at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St, Westfield. The funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, March 6th starting at 9:00am at the funeral home, followed by a liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield at 10:00am. Burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Cemetery , Southampton Rd. Westfield.
