SOUTHWICK – A planned temporary power outage will affect Southwick residents Sunday, May 3 and Monday, May 4.
Eversource has been making improvements to the electric distribution system in town and will be finalizing the work of converting the older system to the new system over the next few weeks.
“While we usually work on the system when it is live; at times, for the safety of our customers and employees, it is necessary for us to de-energize portions of the system to make improvements,” according to an Eversource statement.
The planned, temporary outages will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday and end at 7 p.m., and occur again Monday from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Neighborhoods should expect to be without electricity for four to six hours during those hours.
Half of the town will be on Sunday and half of the town will be on Monday.
“Please know that we will work as quickly as possible to restore service,” stated the Eversource release.
Residents with medical or life support needs should make necessary arrangements for safety.
Eversource will be contacting residents via the phone number they have on record with more information on the planned outage times.
If residents have not received a phone call by the end of April 27 contact customer service at (877) 659-6326 to verify Eversource has the correct contact information and to obtain confirmation of when you will experience an outage.
The outages will take place in neighborhood zones as shown in the maps. A few neighborhoods along the Connecticut border will not be affected. Emergency services will still be available throughout the outage and will utilize generator power.
