SOUTHWICK – The Board of Selectmen and Planning Board are looking for an interested resident to serve as an Associate Member on the Southwick Planning Board.
The associate sits in on issuances of special permits and can be called upon to vote, particularly when a super majority vote is required.
This position will be for a one-year term.
Associate members are in a learning position and have historically run for election for a full member position following their term as an associate.
Selectman Douglas Moglin, previously the chairman of the Planning Board, said that according to the town bylaw the associate position is a “weak position” but Moglin said he believes the opposite is true.
“We view that position as a place to learn,” he said, adding that he served as the associate before running for election.
The resident must be a registered voter. Please submit a letter of interest and resume by noon Jan. 22 to the Board of Selectmen’s Office, Town Hall, 454 College Highway, Southwick, MA 01077.
