SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Regional School Class of 2021 will be feted with a car parade June 4 led by retiring Police Chief Kevin Bishop.
Bishop will be joined by members of emergency service departments from Southwick and Granville. Officials will escort SRS seniors on their traditional “Senior Drive Around.”
The event will start from SRS at 4 p.m.
“Please, if you hear us coming by your home or business, please come out and give a wave or better yet make a sign for this great group of high school seniors,” stated Bishop. “They — like all of us – have had a long year so let’s show some support for them.”
Bishop led the event in 2020, giving more prominence to the tradition during the pandemic. This year he is again supporting students who had also struggled. Throughout the pandemic Bishop sent messages to young children, students and families to encourage them and support them during a time of uncertainty. Bishop is set to retire at the end of June.
Bishop encouraged residents and businesses not located on the route to go to a parking lot along the route to show support.
“Powder Mill School parking lot is a great location. The Green at Granville Center is another great location,” said Bishop.
The route meanders through several streets in Southwick and Granville and ends back at SRS.
The Class of 2021 will graduate June 12.
