12:47 a.m.: officer wanted, City View Boulevard, a caller reports her husband is missing, the woman said that she awoke to find him gone and when she called his cell phone she found it was in the house but she cannot find him, the family’s vehicles are in the driveway, the responding officer reports that the man was found to be asleep in an upstairs bedroom;
8:47 a.m.: breaking and entering, Florence Street, a caller reports two unlocked vehicles on her property were entered overnight and the contents were disturbed, the caller reports that no damage was done and nothing appears to have been stolen;
9:45 a.m.: arrest, Evergreen Manor, 919 Southampton Road, a detective reports he sought the subject of an outstanding warrant at her last known address, Samantha Mercedes Eades, 25, of 919 Southampton Road, was arrested on a warrant issued in 2014 by the Springfield District Court;
10:36 a.m.: larceny, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports he is investigating the theft of a cell phone and wallet from a student at the school;
11:58 a.m.: officer wanted, North Elm Street at Railroad Avenue, a caller reports a banner has been hung from the railroad overpass, the banner was apparently hung by a student to invite a young lady to their prom, the responding officer reports the banner was removed;
12:30 p.m.: larceny, Southampton Road, a resident reports via the online reporting option that a roadside cross erected to memorialize a man killed on Southampton Road has been stolen, the responding officer reports that he found that the daughter of the victim had removed the cross for repair;
1:07 p.m.: suspicious person, East Mountain Road, a caller reports a man was seen entering the woods near her property with a plastic bag, the responding officer reports that the property in question is owned by an adjacent quarry, the officer reports he made contact with the suspect who said that he has tapped trees and collects mushrooms and berries on the property, the man told the officer that an unspecified employee had said that he could forage in the area as long as he stayed away from the quarry, the officer spoke with company officials and was told by the quarry superintendant that he is aware of the man’s activities and said that he has told the young man to stay off the property numerous times, the officer reports the man agreed to repair the holes he made in the six trees he tapped, the officer strongly advised the man to stay away from the property once he repairs the trees;
1:56 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a resident came to the station to complain that a Main Street jeweler has a box of his coins and jewelry and will neither return them nor pay for them, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he took of box of coins and jewelry to a jewelry store on Dec. 19 and the owner estimated their value at about $3,000, the jeweler said that he would need to get an appraisal to establish the real value and gave the man a $500 check as good faith money, the man said that he has been out-of-state but said that when he returned the jeweler told him that he had passed the items to an appraiser and needed more time, the complainant said that the check was not paid and he subsequently has been unable to contact the jeweler , the case was referred to the detective bureau;
2:39 p.m.: trespassing, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports a former student was served with a ‘No trespassing’ order;
5:33 p.m.: animal complaint, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a caller reports finding a cat in a box at the playground, the responding animal control officer reports the cat was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
6:49 p.m.: annoying phone calls, Colony Circle, a caller reports he has been receiving harassing phone calls from a former girlfriend and while he does not wish to pursue criminal charges, he hopes that an officer can dissuade her from continuing to call, the responding officer reports that he spoke with the woman in question who agreed to stop calling the man;
7:08 p.m.: abandoned vehicle, Main Street, a caller from a Main Street business reports that a car has been parked in the adjacent lot for two weeks, the responding officer reports the vehicle’s registration has been revoked for lack of insurance, the plates were seized and the manager of the business which controls the parking lot was advised of her options to remove the car;
7:33 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a manager of an East Main Street supermarket reports a customer advised an employee that a person had been seen putting merchandise in his backpack, the employee confronted the man who left the store, the registration plate of the vehicle the man left in was found to have been revoked.
