9:54 a.m.: Fraud, walk-in. Police received a report from a woman who claimed that a contractor whom she hired to do some electrical work had taken her credit card information and made purchases with it without her authorization. She reportedly gave him her credit card information but later declined to have the electrical work done, but the man utilized it for purchases. There were also purchases that were allegedly not part of the requested work. Police deemed it a “civil matter.”
2:12 p.m.: Motor vehicle-related theft, walk-in. Police received a walk-in complaint from a woman who said that her license plates were stolen off of her vehicle. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
2:56 p.m.: Motor vehicle theft, Second Avenue. Police received a report of a vehicle that was possibly stolen sometime last week. The owner was in the hospital and the son reported it stolen. According to police, this was a civil matter after it was revealed that the stepson may have taken the car under the impression he was given it. Police made no arrests.
3:32 p.m.: Suspicious activity, Roosevelt Avenue. Police received a report from a caller who claimed that they heard “a couple of gun shots in the area.” Police arrived to the home that was believed to have the shots fired and also requested Westfield Fire for forcible entry. Police investigated and found that there were no gun shots or any suspicious activity.
