2:54 a.m.: Breaking and entering, Cherry Street. Police received a call that said two males were attempting to break into a home on Cherry Street. It was reported that they were breaking glass and banging on the door. Prior to police arrival, the two males took off and the caller did not give a description. After police arrived at the home and received a description, officers were able to find a suspect who matched one of the descriptions and brought him to the victim for ID. Police report that the victim positively ID’ed the suspect. There were no arrests, but police did apply for a summons for both suspects for malicious destruction of property.
12:05 p.m.: Vandalism of a motor vehicle, Bartlett Street. Police received a report of a vehicle whose rear window was shattered and a rock was in the car. No belongings were reported stolen. There were no suspects or arrests at the time of the report.
4:34 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, North Road. Police initially stopped a vehicle being operated by Yuriy Tikhonchuk, 26, of Westfield, after allegedly seeing him texting while driving. Upon stopping, police found that he was also operating the motor vehicle with a suspended registration and had the medication suboxone, as well as 10 bags of heroin on his person. Police arrested Tikhonchuk and charged him with possession of a class A drug, texting while operating a vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and possession of a class B drug.
5:39 p.m.: Burglary, Farlaine Drive. Police received a report from a resident who said that they found their door open and items strewn about the house. Upon inspecting the home, the resident found that several items were missing, including money and jewelry. Police had no arrests at the time of the report but were told that there were allegedly “kids seen in the area.”
