8:50 a.m.: Accident, North Elm Street and Lockhouse Road. Police received a report of a vehicle that struck a pole off the road. According to the driver, another vehicle had swerved into his lane and he attempted to avoid them, which caused him to strike the pole. However, police reported that the driver was also driving at speeds that were greater than reasonable given the road conditions. No injuries were reported.
5:25 p.m.: Hit-and-run accident, Elm Street. Police received a report of a small silver sedan reportedly striking another vehicle before heading toward the center of the city. Police were not able to get any further information on the vehicle but it is being investigated.
7 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, Union Street and Lower Sandy Hill Road. Police were at an intersection when they noticed a driver who was familiar to them who did not have a valid license for operation of a vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle and noted that the passenger, Christian J. Costoso, 26, of Westfield, also had a warrant out for his arrest. Police arrested Costoso due to the warrant and cited the unnamed driver due to the lack of a valid license, but did not arrest them.
