Major crime and incident report
1:22 p.m.: Disturbance, Elm Street. Police received report of a man who was allegedly running in and out of traffic and running up to a window of a business and yelling. Police arrived and attempted to observe the suspect in action. Police eventually arrested Christopher J. Mulvey, 47, of Westfield, and charged him with consumption of alcohol in public.
4:30 p.m.: Vandalism, Union Street. police received a report of vandalism that occurred on the door of a car. According to the complaint, there was a scratch on the door of a resident. Police had no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
7:08 p.m.: Disturbance and arrest, Mechanic Street. Police received a report of a man who was allegedly yelling at his children “off and on all day.” Caller said to police that this was not “normal for him,” according to the report. Police arrived and reportedly found that Luis M. Vega, 24, of Westfield, had a warrant out for his arrest. Police arrested him on that warrant.
11:16 p.m.: Accident, Court Street. Police received a report of a light pole that was down in the roadway. When police arrived they reported that a vehicle had actually struck the pole. Police did not have a driver at the scene but reportedly contacted Baystate Noble Hospital and Westfield State University campus police in an attempt to find the alleged driver. Police eventually made contact with the person who allegedly has custody of the vehicle, and according to police that person said that someone else was driving the vehicle. Police attempted to contact that other person but according to the report that was unsuccessful.
