4:18 a.m.: structure fire, Southwick Road, a caller reports that heavy black smoke is emitting from her furnace but there is no fire, the responding Fire Chief reports that there is heavy smoke inside the apartment, the Chief reports that the smoke is being cleared out but the exact cause is not yet known, the responding officer filed an incident report;

7:02 a.m.: accident, Russell Road, a caller reports that she struck a deer with her vehicle and the deer took off, the caller reports that the vehicle sustained major front-end damage but she is not injured, the responding officer reports that a tow truck was requested to remove the vehicle from the scene;

12:06 p.m.: animal complaint, Fowler Street Extension, a caller reports that a group of ducks is wandering in the roadway and that she believes they belong to her neighbor, the responding Animal Control Officer reports that she spoke with the owner of the birds who said she will be installing a fence this week, the Animal Control Officer reports that she advised the owner to corral the ducks and geese back onto his property;

1:06 p.m.: officer wanted, Union Street, a caller reports that a male party known to her showed up to her apartment uninvited before fleeing through the back door and stealing her vehicle, the responding officer reports that an area search turned up negative;

2:28 p.m.: suspicious, Union Street, a caller reports that a male party is creeping around the apartment complex, the responding officer reports that the same male party who stole a motor vehicle in a previous call was seen entering the complex, the officer reports that Cody B. Witt, of no fixed address in Springfield was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant and motor vehicle theft;

7:38 p.m.: suspicious, Southwick Road, a caller reports that they heard a noise that sounded like three gunshots in the area, the responding officer reports that each person he spoke to in a Southwick Road trailer park said they heard the shots, the officer reports that they were unable to pinpoint a source for the noises;

8:52 p.m.: accident, Union Street, multiple callers report a two motor vehicle accident, dispatch reports that a dual response of police and firefighters was sent to the scene, the responding ambulance reports that one person was transported to Baystate Medical Center, the responding officer reports that one tow truck was requested to remove one of the vehicles from the scene.
