12:39 a.m.: disturbance, Hampden Street, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by a female party who reported a prior domestic assault, the officer reports the woman said that her boyfriend had become upset because he smelled alcohol on her breath and grabbed her neck and threw her to a couch whereupon she slapped him, the woman said that the man then struck her, the officer observed signs of minor injuries about the woman, the male party was found at a Washington Street address with his mother who was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Derek W. Webb, 21, of 44 Mechanic St. was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship, Deirdre F. Webb, 44, of 33 Norman Terrace, Feeding Hills, was arrested on a warrant;
4:39 a.m.: breaking and entering, Little River Crossing, 93 S. Maple Street, a caller, despite a language barrier, reports a male party broke into his home but has left, the responding officer reports the caller’s niece described the man who reportedly broke into the home and passed out on a bed which was occupied by a juvenile female, the department’s K-9 team tracked the departing suspect toward Mill Street and a suspect was found on Granville Road, Robert W. Gilmet, 46, of no fixed address, was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant and he was arrested;
9:09 a.m.: larceny, William St., a caller reports a larceny, the responding officer reports the caller said that he had met a woman on a social networking website and after the relationship developed he invited her to her home where she spent the night, the man said that in the morning he found her gone along with his wallet which contained $200 in cash as well as personal documents, the man said that he has no physical address for the woman;
9:09 a.m.: larceny, Heggie Drive, a resident came to the station to report he is the victim of an Internet scam, the responding officer reports the victim said that he posted an item for sale on an Internet website, he said a buyer sent him a check greatly in excess of the purchase price and asked him to return the excess, the man said that he sent the buyer his change and subsequently discovered that the check he had received was returned unpaid;
11:13a.m.: attempted breaking and entering, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road professional building reports an attempt was made to enter the building between later afternoon Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, the responding officer reports no entry was gained;
11:30 a.m.: larceny, Devon Terrace, a resident came to the station to file a larceny report, the responding officer reports the complainant said that over a period of time property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen from his residence, the man said that the matter has been dealt with by his insurance company but he needs to file a police report;
1:26 p.m.: assist citizen, Pochassic Road, a patrol officer reports an unattended 7-year-old child, the officer reports he found that the child had returned home from a summer school program and her grandmother who is usually at home was away, the officer spoke with the child’s mother who said that her mother would return home within minutes, a neighbor agreed to watch the girl until her grandmother returned, the Department of Children and Families was notified;
2:50 p.m.: derailment, Springfield Road at East Mountain Road, a caller from CSX railroad reports five cars have derailed, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News;
3:50 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Notre Dame Apartments, a caller reports the defendant of a protective order violated the ‘No contact’ clause of the order, the responding officer reports the caller said that the man rode his bike within 15 feet of her sliding glass door and yelled a threat to sue her as he passed, the officer found the order stipulates that the man must stay at least 25 years from the plaintiff’s residence, a criminal complaint was filed;
4:13 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller from a Broad Street nursing home reports larceny from residents, the responding officer reports the victim said that she visited two patients whose affairs she assists with and left her bag which contained some of their property in one of the resident’s room while she went to see the other, the woman said when she returned the contents of the bag were scattered on a table and the cash and the residents’ wallets were missing;
4:25 p.m.: fire, Frederick Street, a caller reports a stove fire has been extinguished but the apartment is filled with smoke, the responding firefighters report a grease fire had been extinguished prior to heir arrival and the residence was ventilated to remove the smoke;
5:40 p.m.: larceny, Spruce Street, a resident came to the station to report a larceny, the responding officer reports the complainant said that a pair of diamond earrings were found to be missing June 14-28, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
8:20 p.m.: fire, Pontoosic Road, a caller reports smoke in the area, the responding firefighters report a resident was found to be burning garbage and plastic, the resident was advised of the pertinent state laws and agreed to extinguish the fire, firefighters helped put out the fire;
8:53 p.m.: larceny, Overlook Drive, a caller reports his son’s bicycle was stolen while visiting a friend, the responding officer reports the bike was not locked when it was parked outside the residence and is missing;
10:57 p.m.: attempted breaking and entering, Highland Avenue, a caller reports an attempt may have been made to break into his home the night before, the responding officer reports a chair was found beneath a window with a screen which had been pushed in, no entry appeared to have been gained.
