Major crime and incident report

6:13 a.m.: Hit and run, Union Street. Police received a report of a vehicle that was struck sometime overnight, causing significant damage to the vehicle. There were no suspects or other vehicle description for police.

9:45 a.m.: Motor vehicle accident, East Mountain Road and Holyoke Road. Police received a report from a female operating an RV that it struck a viaduct and ended up ripping off the air conditioning unit on the vehicle. No damage was reported to the viaduct and no injuries.

11:17 a.m.: breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, Pleasant Street. Police received a walk-in complaint from someone who claimed that their vehicle was broken into and an oxygen tank was stolen. Police did not have information on whether or not there was forced entry.

1:28 p.m.: Larceny, West Silver Street. A walk-in reported that they had jewelry and coins stolen from their home. Police and the resident have a suspect that may have been involved, but could not divulge any other information.

2:48 p.m.: Motor vehicle accident, Southampton Road. Police received a report of a two-car accident involving a 1994 Ford Escort and a 2010 Honda CRV. There was no airbag deployment or injuries noted, but one vehicle was towed from the location.

6:13 p.m.: Motor vehicle accident, Russell Road. Westfield Police, Fire and EMS responded to a one-car accident into a tree on the side of the road. Police arrived on scene first, updated the fire and EMS units responding that the person was breathing, but poorly. Fire and EMS arrived and had to extricate the person from the vehicle. After extricating the person they were transported to Baystate Noble where they were pronounced dead. See story in the July 11th Westfield News.

8:57 p.m.: Motor vehicle accident and arrest, City View Road. Police responded to a one-car accident on City View Road that involved a 2008 Infiniti CP and a guard rail. Police requested an ambulance to evaluate the only person involved and the person refused transport to the hospital. After refusal, police evaluated the driver and she failed field sobriety tests. Stephanie M. Bradford, 30, of Feeding Hills, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation under the influence of liquor, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
