6:21 a.m.:
attempted breaking and entering, Pioneer Valley Railroad, Depot Square, caller reports attempt made to force open two doors, officer reports marks on doors indicating an attempt to pry open doors, no entry gained, officer photographed damage;
9:01 a.m.: medical emergency, Southampton Road at intersection of Woodside Terrace, caller reports a man slumped over in a wheelchair behind a mini mall, officer requesting an ambulance for the man who has chest pain and is having difficulty breathing, ambulance dispatched to transport man to Noble Hospital, officer requesting a flat-bed tow truck to secure the motorized wheelchair, services rendered;
11:01 a.m.: breaking and entering, Oakwood Terrace Apartments, 200 Southwick Road, caller reports storage area in basement entered, officer reports common access cellar area, no criminal activity observed;
12:38 p.m.: annoying phone calls, citizen came to station to report she has been receiving annoying and vulgar texts from a man, citizen advised to seek a harassment prevention order through the courts;
1:10 p.m.: assist citizen, Free Street, caller reports being denied access to Samaritan Inn to recover his wife’s property, officer requesting medical assistance for caller’s wife, a diabetic, who is not feeling well, woman transported to Noble Hospital, officer reports speaking with homeless shelter staff who report that the caller was asked to leave because an issue involving missing medication, wife refused to stay in shelter if husband could not, husband seeking alternative housing for the couple;
1:32 p.m.: animal complaint, Pontoosic Road, postal carrier reports being bitten on the hand by a dog while delivering mail, officer reports speaking with the postal carrier at Noble Hospital where he was being treated, information taken about the dog and its location for animal control to follow up on incident;
3:22 p.m.: identity fraud, Little River Road, citizen came to station to report that someone had filed an IRS tax return using his information, officer reports that the IRS requires victims to file a formal complaint with a police department as part of its investigation process, services rendered;
5:33 p.m.: suspicious activity, Arnold Street, Westfield Bank ATM, caller reports that she and several other patrons were waiting to use the ATM when the man at the machine concluded his business and turned around with his penis exposed to the other patrons, referred to the detective bureau, detective will review bank security video in attempt to identify the suspect;
8:06 p.m.: armed robbery, JJ’s Variety, 122 Montgomery Street, employee reports a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses displayed a knife and took about $250 in cash and a pack of cigarettes, caller states man was heading south along Montgomery Street, officer reports locating a subject matching the caller’s description, subject was in possession of $251 and a new pack of cigarettes, subject did not have a knife in his possession at the time of his arrest, Matthew L. Flynn, 28, of 53 Crown St., was taken into custody on a charge of armed robbery while masked;
9:06 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Springfield Road at the intersection of Union Street, caller reports two-vehicle collision with possible injuries, dual response, ambulance and Engine 4 dispatched to accident scene, officer reports a 2010 Hyundai, was traveling east and attempted to make a left turn onto Union Street, entering the path of a 2007 Dodge, which struck the side of the Hyundai, Dodge operator of was transported to Noble Hospital, Hyundai towed with front-end damage;
11:39 p.m.: shoplifting, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, loss prevention officer reports stopping a man and woman attempting to leave the store with merchandise without paying for those items, officer reports merchandise was recovered and the two suspects issued trespass orders.
