Major crime and incident report

7:43 a.m.:
accident, Southampton Road at the Massachusetts Turnpike exchange, caller reports that a truck struck the rear of a school bus carrying school children, officer reports no injuries, information taken for school bus company;
7:54 a.m.: motor vehicle accident, Springdale Road, dual police and fire response, caller reports a head-on collision, officer reports a vehicle hydroplaned across the center of the road way, occupants of the car that was struck by the hydroplaning vehicle complained of neck and back injuries but declined ambulance transport, both vehicles were driven from the accident scene;
9:48 a.m.: officer wanted, Smith Avenue, early release of Westfield Vocational Technical High School seniors, school requested officer’s presence to ensure a safe departure of students from area of school, services rendered;
11:23 a.m.: notification, Flower Road, West Springfield requesting an officer to inform a city resident of an accident in their community, services rendered;
3:13 p.m.: motor vehicle accident South Maple Street, officer reports two vehicle rear end collision, one vehicle towed from scene, no injuries reported;
3:20 p.m.: downed line, Mechanic Street, caller reports wires down, officer reports wires are still intact but there is a branch on the wires, Department of Public Works notified to remove hazard;
5:31 p.m.: shoplifting, arrest, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, store security stopped a man attempting to exit store with a wind0w air conditioner, security reported that subject did the same thing last week, officer reports Thomas G. Butts, 54, of no known address, Springfield was arrested and is charged with two counts of larceny of property valued at more than $250 and on a warrant;
6:15 p.m.: shoplifting, arrest, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, store security stopped a subject who was attempting to leave the store carrying a bicycle, officer reports Steven E. Chenevert, 46, of 197 Main St., West Springfield charged with shoplifting;
8:18 p.m.: officer wanted, Oaks Trailer Park, 404 Southwick Road, officers took a resident into custody on a fugitive from justice warrant for offenses which occurred in Enfield, Conn., Michelle R. Grillo, 48, taken into custody.
