12:56 a.m.:
suspicious activity, Paper Mill Road, patrol officer observed a motor vehicle parked in the Paper Mill Road Playground lot, office reports motorist pulled off roadway to take a cellphone call;
1:07 a.m.: suspicious activity, South Meadow Road, officer reports two subjects, a man and a woman in a parked vehicle, sent on their way;
2:41 a.m.: assist other police department, Marla Circle, Easthampton police requesting an officer to make a notification to a resident, services rendered;
11:49 a.m.: larceny, Sherman Street, citizen came to report that a package delivered by UPS was left outside her residence and was subsequently stolen, officer took information, report sent to UPS to confirm theft;
12:39 p.m.: officer wanted, intersection of Meadow and White streets, officer reports locating a person who made false 911 calls reporting fictitious crimes, subject was in possession of the phone used to make the false reports, subject admitted to make the calls, criminal complaint filed with the court;
1:07 p.m.: Threat to commit a crime, Noble Avenue, a citizen, who is the victim of a crime, reports the defendant threatened him, officer reports information taken, incident remains under investigation;
1:35 p.m.: breaking and entering, larceny, Park Square Town Houses, 140 Union St., maintenance supervisor reports that a door to a tool storage area was pried open and power equipment and tools valued at more than $1,000 were taken, incident referred to the detective bureau for further investigation;
4:21 p.m.: larceny, Home Depot, 514 East Main Street, off-duty officer reports seeing a subject leave the store carrying two plastic cases containing power tools, off duty officer requesting assistance of patrol officers, subject cross East Main Street, off duty office located the subject near the Berkshire Bank on Little River and identified himself as a police officer, subject dropped the items, which had a value of nearly $400, and ran into a wooded area on the south bank of the Westfield River, area search negative, items were brought back to Home Department where an employee confirmed that they had been stolen, officer requested Home Depot to review their security video to assist with identifying suspect;
5:38 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Court Street, patrol officer reports observing a subject known to him to have his license to operate a motor vehicle suspended, officer checked Registry of Motor Vehicle data base to confirm that the subject’s license was still suspended, subject stopped on Main Street, Derek W. Webb, 23, of 44 Mechanic St., taken into custody on charges of unlicensed operation or a motor vehicle and possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage;
11:41 p.m.: motor vehicle hit-and-run accident, School Street, manager of Wings over Westfield Restaurant reports that a vehicle struck a utility pole on School Street and that power lines are hanging from the broken pole, officer reports overhead wires are not a hazard, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified, and responded to the scene shortly after midnight.
