Friday, March 1, 2013
8:55 a.m.: vandalism, 42 Arnold St., apartment manager reports tenant’s boyfriend kicked and damaged door, officer documented damage and spoke with boyfriend who agreed to make restitution, no charges pending at this time;
1:58 p.m.: larceny, Econo Lodge, 2 Southampton Road, citizen came to station to report that her debit card was used without her authority, card was stolen by an acquaintance who attempted to use it to pay for lodging, under investigation;
2:09 p.m.: search warrant, arrest, 20 Murray Ave., officers executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Roy V. Ramonas, 23, of that address charged with possession of a class A substance, a subsequent offense;
10:08 p.m.: disturbance, 38 Union St., caller reports under-age party with alcohol, party was “advertised” on Facebook, officer reports approximately 30 people at party, ages ranging from 18 to 21, gathering dispersed and all persons left with sober drivers, officer spoke with father of “host” and advised him of the incident, father said he would deal with the situation.

1:20 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, arrest, North Elm Street, patrol officer monitoring traffic observed a vehicle being operated at 49 miles per hour in a 30 MPH zone, Noel Rivera, 28, of 14 Bernard Circle, Springfield charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a subsequent offense, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.
7:24 a.m.: suspicious activity, Western Avenue, Stanley Park, caller reports that her Golden Retriever is missing and may have been taken by a male, reporting party said the dog was off leash and ran to the man, when reporting party walked to that area, both the dog and man were gone, officer advised the woman to return to the area and search for the dog, park security ranger reports that the dog was located and returned to the owner;
8:18 a.m.: vandalism, Church Street Commons, officer reports concrete planters tipped over;
10:52 a.m.: animal complaint, Lowell Avenue, caller reports sick raccoon in the yard, caller reported that the animal kept falling over, animal went under caller’s deck, caller was advised to contact wildlife removal company, officer reports that while he was at the scene, the raccoon emerged from under deck and was dispatched, homeowner to dispose of animal carcass;
12:57 p.m.: domestic disturbance, arrest, 83 Main St., caller reports heated verbal dispute in neighboring apartment, officer reports Jordan K. Wright, 22, of 364 Main St., Indian Orchard section of Springfield taken into custody and charged with violating the no-contact provision of a 209-A abuse prevention order;
4:09 p.m.: structural fire, Beckwith Avenue, multiple caller reports house on fire and residents trapped inside dwelling, police officers and firefighters dispatched, Engines 2, 3, 4, and 5, platform truck and ambulance on scene, officer reports no fire, homeowner was attempting to light a wood stove and there was a back draft with pulled smoke into residence, firefighters assisted with smoke removal;
5:27 p.m.: suspicious activity, Ponders Hollow Road in area of Tin Bridge, caller reports youths attempting to steal “no dumping, police take notice” sign, officer reports evidence that an attempt was made to remove sign which was hanging by only one screw, officer conducted an area search and located a vehicle at a nearby business, registration plate on vehicle was issued for another vehicles and had been revoked for lack of insurance, plate seized and notification left on windshield;
8:28 p.m.: officer wanted, Samaritan Inn, 7 Free St., caller reports that he can not used his ATM because someone at the shelter, with access to personal information, charged the address, caller reports he is unable to access the account which has money, officer reports that the reporting party was the subject of a court warrant, Leonard Lewis, 39, of 7 Free Street taken into custody;
9:34 p.m.: suspicious activity, area of intersection of Elm and Bartlett streets, caller reports person being dragged down the street by two subjects, officer reports two subjects were friends of the incapacitated person and fled the scene when the officer arrived, officer requested an ambulance to transport the incapacitated person to Noble Hospital for evaluation.

3:02 a.m.: suspicious activity, Stephanie Lane, patrol officer reports vehicle with engine running and running lights illuminated, officer requesting a tow for the vehicle, Matthew L. Flynn, 26, of 349 Steiger Drive placed into protective custody;
7:15 a.m.: arrest, 15 Washington Street, citizen came to station to surrender himself on outstanding court warrants, John S. Kirwan, 38, of 27 Morris St., taken into custody on two warrants;
12:05 p.m.: vandalism to a motor vehicle, Governor Drive, caller reports vehicle covered with trash and eggs, officer reports no damage, eggs and trash washed off vehicle;
12:39 p.m.: suspicious activity, Lady Slipper Lane, caller reports a neighbor’s mailbox damaged, officer reports speaking with the property owner who states that her mailbox was damaged by a snowplow, Department of Public Works notified to remove debris;
4:01 p.m.: vandalism to a motor vehicle, 300 East Main St., Thrifty Car Sales, caller reports side-view mirror of a Kia Optima damaged overnight, officer reports no other damage to vehicles in display lot, damage may have been accidental, officer will increase patrols in that area;
5:04 p.m.: domestic disturbance, arrest, Cedar Lane, caller reports brother and father in heated verbal dispute and that caller believes it will become a physical confrontation, officer reports Greg Thomas Petlak, 32, of 46 Cedar Lane taken into custody on a charge of assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
11:31 p.m.: noise complaint, arrest, 8 Cycle St., caller reports a male is knocking on the door and woke her up, officer reports observing a motor vehicle with Connecticut plates leaving the scene, officer spoke with a male who was attempting to contact a relative who is a resident of the apartment building, officer reports James P. Kosko, 33, of 76 Benham St., Bristol, Conn., taken into custody on a warrant, and charges of operating a motor vehicle after suspension of license and possession of class E prescription drugs, without a valid prescription, vehicle towed from scene.
