1:50 p.m.: Accident, Main Street and Cross Street. Police received a report for a two-vehicle crash involving a 2000 Saturn SL1 and a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. Police reported no injuries and no tow truck was requested.

2:58 p.m.: Motor vehicle-related theft, Phelps Avenue. A resident reported that one of their registration plates was stolen off of their vehicle. Police are investigating.

4:22 p.m.: Fraud, walk-in. Police received a report of fraudulent activity regarding someone’s identity. According to police, there was an attempt to open a credit card in a resident’s name but no loss was reported.

7:17 p.m.: Larceny, Heritage Lane. Police received a report of jewelry missing from a home. According to police, there is a possible suspect but the person is currently out of state, and the suspect allegedly has access to the property. Police are investigating.

9:28 p.m.: Well-being check and arrest, Park Square. Police were flagged down by a passerby while on a motor vehicle stop who reported that a vehicle was reportedly stopped in the middle of the roadway. Police also received a report from another motorist who claimed that they were behind an “erratic operator” driving down Route 20. Police found the vehicle and approached it, and they reported that the driver, Grady K. Hughes, 20, of Westfield, allegedly had glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol. Additionally, they reported that there were allegedly several nips of Smirnoff in the car. Police gave field sobriety tests to Hughes, which they reported that he allegedly failed and arrested him on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended, possession of open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
