Major crime and incident report

6:07 a.m.: accident, Mechanic Street, a caller reports a two motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment and possible injuries, the responding officer reports that two tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles from the scene, but that the two operators chose private tows instead, the responding ambulance reports that one person refused medical attention;
5:07 p.m.: vandalism, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street home and garden store reports that two youths entered the store and caused damage to merchandise via a motorized handicap scooter before fleeing across the street on their bicycles, the responding officer filed an incident report;
5:27 p.m.: incapacitated person, North Elm Street, a caller from a North Elm Street convenience store reports that a female party entered the store and was stumbling and slurring her words, the caller reports that the female party left the store and entered a motor vehicle with a child inside, the responding officer reports that Kayla E Babski, 37, of 223 Reservoir Ave, Westfield was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and child endangerment while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol;
5:29 p.m.: vandalism, East Main Street, a caller reports that two youths threw eggs at his truck, the caller reports that the youths are riding around an East Main Street parking lot on their bicycles, the responding officer reports an area search turned up negative;
9:43 p.m.: accident, East Mountain Road, a caller reports that he struck a bear with his vehicle, the caller reports that his vehicle was damaged and the bear fled into the woods and is possibly injured, the responding officer reports that the Environmental Police would be contacted to search the area for the bear in the morning;
11:37 p.m.: motor vehicle violations, Noble Street, a patrol officer reports that a motor vehicle fled from him after he had pulled it over, dispatch reports that Massachusetts State Police assisted with the search and located the unoccupied vehicle in a nearby parking lot, dispatch reports that State Police brought a canine to assist the search, dispatch reports that officers located the male party who admitted to have been operating the vehicle, dispatch reports that Johnathan Hernandez Smith, 18, of 60 Margaret St., Springfield was placed under arrest for failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, larceny of items valued under $1,200, and breaking and entering with the intent of committing a misdemeanor.
7:49 p.m.: recreational vehicle violations, Berkshire Avenue, two ATVs operating on the street.
