WESTFIELD

4:19 a.m.: assault, West School Street, a caller reports she was followed home by a known party who struck her with a softball bat, the responding officer reports the suspect was sought and found at her last known address, Sara Michelle Menard, 36, of 7 Union St., Apt. D, Westfield, was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon;
10:39 a.m.: animal complaint, Prospect Street Extension, a caller reports a raccoon in his yard is acting strangely and may be rabid, the responding officer reports the animal was definitely rabid and was dispatched with two shots;
2:26 p.m.: suspicious activity, Springfield Road, a caller reports a known person in a vehicle pointed a gun at him while he was driving, the responding officer reports the incident occurred in West Springfield, another officer reports the suspect vehicle was located and stopped but two occupants fled on foot, both suspects were subsequently detained, one was found to be in possession of a firearm and was the subject of an active warrant issued in 2020 by the Worcester district court, Edwin Resto Jr., 19, of 33 Montgomery St., Apt. 204, Westfield, was arrested for carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a FID card, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and on the warrant, the other suspect was transported to his home and surrendered to the custody of his parents;
6:08 p.m.: disturbance, Main Street, a caller reports 10-12 persons are fighting outside and one was using pepper spray, the responding officer reports two persons who had been involved in a verbal altercation were sent on their separate ways;
8:40 p.m.: found property, Union Street, a resident came to the station to surrender ammunition found while cleaning out an apartment.

 

SOUTHWICK

10:12 a.m.: motor vehicle complaint, College Highway, an uncovered truck was reported dropping its load on the road;

10:44 a.m.: boat complaint, South Pond, a boater in a row boat had no personal floatation devices on board and headed to Saunders to retrieve some;

12:37 p.m.: suspicious person, Lakewood Village Apartments, a resident states seeing a suspicious male in a hoodie by the playground, another resident reports the man lives there and all in order;

12:45 p.m.: suspicious person, Point Grove Road, a vehicle with its trunk open was reported behind the Veterans of Foreign Ward building, the vehicle owner recently purchased the property;

9:24 p.m.: officer wanted, Bungalow Street, a dispute between a landlord and tenant was settled upon police arrival.
