10:01 a.m.: Accident, Southwick Road. Police received a report of a vehicle that had struck a pole. No injuries reported and no airbag deployment.
10:07 a.m.: Larceny, walk-in. Police received a report of a 2005 Honda off-road motorcycle that was allegedly stolen. The vehicle was reported missing from Pontoosic Road.
2:48 p.m.: Shoplifting, Free Street. Police received a report of a customer at a store who had reportedly attempted to return an item without a receipt. It was also reported that the person had allegedly left the store without paying for an item. According to the police log, it was difficult for the officer to determine through the camera footage if the person had entered the store with the item in their carriage or if the item was in the carriage when the person left. According to police, a vehicle was stopped that was operated Donald J. Howard, 52, of Springfield, who police reported was the person who attempted to return the item. Police reported finding an item in the vehicle, which was a “pair of loppers,” but that the item had appeared to have been used “for some length of time.” No charges for shoplifting filed. However, Howard was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of motor vehicle.
11:46 p.m.: Accident, hit-and-run, Arnold Street. Police received a report from a person who claimed that they witnessed a Jeep Grand Cherokee strike another jeep in a parking lot multiple times. The vehicle had reportedly fled, but the registration had allegedly fallen off of the vehicle. Police went to find the vehicle and operator at the address of the plate. Police eventually when to another residence and found the vehicle and operator alleged. Police reported citing the person.
