1:55 a.m.: fire, Williams Riding Way at Delancy Street, a railroad representative reports a cross tie is burning about a half mile east of the intersection of North Elm Street and Union Avenue, the responding officer reports he located the burning tie and the responding firefighters extinguished the fire;
6:30 a.m.: assist other agency, Hedges Avenue, detectives and a supervisory officer were detailed to assist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, a detective reports the agents took custody of Yevegeniy Babinov at a Hedges Avenue address without incident;
9:34 a.m.: assist police department, Hedges Avenue, the fire prevention officer reports detectives advised him that they removed two kerosene heaters which were found operating in a residence they had entered on an unrelated matter, the resident said that he had not known the heaters were prohibited, the deputy fire chief requested the DPW assist with the removal of the heaters;
1:32 p.m.: suspicious activity, Elm Street, a business owner reports via the online reporting option that he was the target of a telephone scam, see story in the Thursday edition of The Westfield News.;
3:31 p.m.: accident, Springdale Road at Union Street, multiple callers reports a tractor trailer unit struck a school bus, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News;
5:19 p.m.: larceny, Governor’s Center, 66 Broad St., a detective reports she was advised of a larceny at the care facility, the detective reports she was advised that cash was stolen from the locked bedside table of a resident, the detective reports her investigation is ongoing;
5:21 p.m.: larceny, Governor’s Center, 66 Broad St., a detective reports she was advised of a larceny at the care facility, the detective reports she was told that a resident noticed that two of the rings her mother habitually wears are missing, the detective reports her investigation is ongoing;
5:35 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Holland Avenue, a caller reports the defendant of an abuse prevention order is within the proscribed distance of her home, the responding officer reports the complainant said that she saw the defendant of the order smoking outside his mother’s residence which is less than 100 yards from her home, a criminal complaint was filed;
9:27 p.m.: suspicious activity, Mechanic Street, a community policing officer reports he observed an open window at a vacant building, the officer reports he gained entry with assistance from firefighters and found nobody inside the dilapidated building, the CP officer reports he advised the responsible property manager of the deplorable conditions inside and advised her to secure the window;
11:02 p.m.: vandalism, Arnold Street, a caller from an Arnold Street bar reports that a described male party struck the siding of their building with a beer bottle, the responding officer reports he was unable to locate a suspect.
