1:27 a.m.: Disturbance, Elm Street. Police received a report that a person had become agitated in a vehicle at an establishment on Elm Street and police were requested. While on scene, police reported that they found an individual urinating in public and proceeded to arrest Jose I. Vazquez, 23, of Westfield, and charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Allegedly, while arresting Vazquez police reported that another man came and started yelling at the police for the arrest, while another was running down the street allegedly yelling expletives and calling the police racist. The police proceeded to arrest both Ryan M. Flick, 22, and Henry velez Deaza-Velez, 22, both of Westfield, and charged Flick with disorderly conduct and Deaza-Velez with disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting arrest.
2:37 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, North Elm Street. Police reported that they stopped a vehicle that was operated by Steven J. Grimsley, 24, of Westfield, after a random check of Grimsley’s plates reportedly showed that his license was suspended. Grimsley was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended.
8:05 p.m. Shoplifting, Elm Street. Police received a report of a male that had allegedly shoplifted a large bottle of whiskey and left a store without paying. Police were given a description but were unable to initially locate the male. However, the man would later show back up at the store the following day, at which point police arrested him.
