12:40 a.m.: Motor vehicle theft, Broad Street. Police received a report of a 1996 Honda Accord that was stolen from a restaurant on Broad Street. There were initially no suspects and no witnesses, but the vehicle was found by Holyoke Police running in Holyoke without an operator. The vehicle was towed by Holyoke Police.

9:08 a.m.: Structure fire, Southampton Road. Police and fire responded to a structure fire at Henry’s trailer park on Southampton Road. Police and fire found a home on fire that had started in the bedroom, along with several animals and one person in the home. The person in the home had difficulty getting out and was assisted by police and fire personnel. In the process, the person was injured and eventually transported to a local hospital by Westfield Fire paramedics. This story was originally reported by The Westfield News Oct. 6.

12:27 p.m.: Larceny, walk-in. Police received a complaint from a person who was a customer at Wal-Mart the night before. According to the victim he stated his wallet was stolen from a counter at the store after he left it there accidentally. Police had no further information available at the time of the report.

4:50 p.m.: Vandalism, Delancy Street. Police received a report of a group of youths breaking windows of cars in a private parking lot. Police were also told that the wife of the caller was chasing the youths at the time of the call. Police were able to find and apprehend the youths and reported that charges would not be filed but restitution was paid.

6:48 p.m.: Burglary and breaking and entering, Holyoke Road. police received a report of two dirt bikes that were stolen from a garage of a home on Holyoke Road. The theft happened sometime during the day while the owner was gone. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
