WESTFIELD

12:00 a.m.: disturbance, Elm Street, a caller reports that a group of eight college-aged individuals running down the street and screaming, the caller reports that they appeared to be carrying beer and that they ‘got into his face,’ the responding officer reports that a search of the area turned up nothing;

1:31 a.m.: disturbance, Union Street, a caller reports that a lone college-aged male is walking down the street screaming loudly, the responding officer reports that he picked up the male party and transported him back to his dorm at Westfield State University;

5:05 a.m.: suspicious person, Miller Street, a caller reports that a man was seen dragging trash cans into the road and looking into people’s vehicles with his pants down, the responding officer reports that another witness claimed to have heard the sound of trash cans moving around as well, the officer reports that an area search turned up negative;

1:39 p.m.: animal complaint, Southwick Road at Phillip Avenue, an animal control officer reports that there is a deceased black cat in the area and that she has retrieved it;

2:01 p.m.: traffic complaint, Meadow Street at Main Street, a caller reports that the crosswalk signal at a set of traffic lights is continuously cycling on even though there are no pedestrians, causing traffic to be backed up, the responding officer reports that his attempts to move traffic resulted in a further bottleneck, the officer reports that the traffic signals seemingly went back to normal, the officer reports that the issue happened again the following morning and that Westfield Gas and Electric have been notified;

5:04 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a patrol officer reports that an underaged male party was observed riding a bike and “messing around” with parked vehicles, the officer reports that the male party was stealing metal valves off of Fire Department vehicle tires and letting air out of them, the officer reports that the air in the vehicle tires was replaced and that no further damage was done;

5:14 p.m.: suspicious person, Springfield Road, a caller reports that a male party was attempting to run a scam involving credit cards and gift cards, the caller reports that the man ran off when confronted but left his cell phone behind, the caller reports that the man returned to retrieve his cell phone, the responding officer filed an incident report;

8:13 p.m.: motor vehicle complaint, East Main Street, dispatch reports that Agawam Police advised Westfield Police to be on the lookout for a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road and heading into Westfield, the responding officer reports that the suspected vehicle was pulled over after being observed driving over the median, the officer arrested Michael K. Perron, 35, of 62 Franklin St. for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation;

8:15 p.m.: vandalism, Shepard Street, a caller reports that a female party known to him smashed the window of his vehicle while he was inside his house, the responding officer reports that the suspect was not in the area on his arrival and the caller does not want to file criminal charges, the officer reports that he informed the caller of harassment prevention orders for future incidents;

9:35 p.m.: electrical hazard, East Mountain Road, a caller reports hearing a loud explosion and that a tree is now down in the area, the responding officer reports that a tree had fallen on the main power line and that Westfield Gas and Electric were advised, the officer reports that the tree was removed from the roadway;

10:18 p.m.: motor vehicle incident, Elm Street at Court Street, a caller reports that a vehicle ran over the curb and possibly struck a street sign and has two flat tires, the responding officer reports that a tow truck removed the vehicle and confirmed that street signs had been struck;

10:57 p.m.: disturbance, Elm Street, a caller reports that they can hear what sounds like a woman screaming “help me” loudly in his apartment complex but that he cannot see anything, the responding officer reports that he could hear the sound of a woman calling for help, but was unable to locate where in the apartment complex the sound was coming from, the caller reports that this had been occurring over the past several nights;

11:46 p.m.: disturbance, Elm Street, a caller reports that he can hear the sound of a woman yelling “help me” in a manner similar to what he reported to police less than an hour before, the responding officers were again unable to locate the source of the noise.
